This is a bibliography, a short, fully annotated list of works by 33 authors whose writings contribute to essential knowledge needed to understand and take advantage of the Warfield program for dealing with complexity. This paper was used as a handout to accompany a talk Warfield gave to the AAAS Fellows meeting (American Assn. for the Advancement of Science) in Washington, D.C. on 13 May 1997. In regards to his "Readings" list, Warfield states: "The reader who reads only one of these will probably not gain a lot. The greatest value will come in thinking about how these readings reinforce each other: how the ideas from one merge readily with ideas from others; and how the total vision can provide a degree of coherence and a level of depth not likely to be gained in any other way. It is not a short-term adventure." In Part 2 of this paper, Warfield presents a summary, titled "An Integrative Perspective on the Authors" in which he seeks to synthesize the aggregate philosophies of these 33 authors into a set of five interrelated themes which deal with today’s political and social problems and their possible solutions. This paper is one of the group of seven manuscripts which Warfield has included in his IASIS monograph titled "1997 Essays on Complexity (Mid-Year Edition)" which he assembled and printed in June 1997. It is printed on pages 139-161 of the Essays.
